War of Extinction
The War of Extinction was war fought 42,000 years ago between the Ishvana and an alliance of the Elder Races. It began when the Ishvana finally made contact with the various races across the Starmourn Sector, commanding them to submit and be assimilated into its collective consciousness. Naturally, all rejected this declaration realizing it meant extinction like the Ishvana's creators, the Elessi.
The Utan Mir, perhaps the most powerful race in the Starmourn Sector at the time, were the first to be attacked. Although, they put up a valiant defense, they were utterly wiped out by the Ishvana's seemingly innumerable armada, an act the Shen still hold against the Ishvana to this day. In the wake of the Utan Mir's destruction, the remaining Elder Races realized that only together could they stop the onslaught of the Ishvana. Together the largest fleet assembled since the Ascension Wars was formed including the following: Rek, Vyar, Shrikem, League of Anar, K'sath, Quix, Ta-deth, Sooq, Sapphire Cults of the Jeweled Heresy, Y'saari and their Lha Ti.
The galactic struggle waged for over 1,500 years, the combined might of the Elder Races proving insufficient to push back the relentless machinations of the Ishvana. In the end only a small contingent of the fear star kith-wielding Rek, the heavily entrenched Y'saari, and the telepathic Shrikem remained of the once impressive alliance. When it seemed all would be lost, the Shrikem used their telepathic abilities in unison and were able to fracture the Ishvana's sub-quantum mind causing it to go insane. In its confusion, it lost control of its massive fleet causing them to not only break from their strict formation, often crashing into one another, but also attacking one another. Its emissary ships were even seen broadcasting nonsensical messages with no apparent recipients. The supreme singularity of the Ishvana could not stand being fractured as it was and within a year's time, eventually withdrew to the Atman sparing the remainder of the Starmourn Sector.
In the wake of the this event with most of the Elder Races extinct and their homeworlds and civilizations destroyed, the Younger Races began to ascend to power within the Starmourn Sector, a time which became known as the Younger Era.
