The Captaincy skill is a general skill that everyone has access to. It enables you to pilot different classes of starship, fully utilize all manner of weapons and equipment, and perform more complex space maneuvers.

To gain captaincy levels you will accrue experience by taking part in space activities such as mining and refining, fulfilling market orders and defeating enemies in incursions.

General Spaceflight Abilities

There are some general skills every pilot may find useful, they involve mining, movement and transfer skills.

  • Autopilot: You may use autopilot programming from the very start of your spaceflight career.
  • Tethering: You will learn to tether asteroids at captaincy level 2
  • Eva: You will learn to have mobility while outside your ship at level 5
  • Rescue: You will be able to rescue a stranded adventurer from level 5
  • Widescoops: your gas scoops will be able to gather from a wider area at level 10
  • Docking: You will get priority docking privileges at level 20
  • Transfers: You will be able to transfer cargo directly to another ship at level 30
  • Harvestdrones: You will have the authority to use a swarm of gas harvesting drones at level 32
  • Detonate: You will have the experience to authorize the detonation of your own ship at level 47

Listed below are all of the classes of ship currently available to you in Starmourn. At first, you will only be able to purchase and buy an interceptor, but as you advance in captaincy levels you will gain the appropriate license to fly advanced classes of ship.

Ship Tricks

You will learn some tricks and maneuvers designed to make your job easier, and hopefully flummox your enemies!

  • Skip - Flood your skipdrive to blink forwards by 10 SU from level 15
  • Flyby - Leapfrog around any obstacles, going up to 15 tiles forwards from level 25
  • Reversethrust - Momentatily reversing the thrust of your engines from level 35
  • Reflexes - Temporarily avoid being damaged when passing through hazards like planetary rings from level 40
  • 180 - Instantly turn the ship by 180 degrees from level 43
  • Overload - Overload your skipdrive to jump forward by up to 120su from level 50 (AKA Admiral L1)
