Background

The Cabal is the ruling body of the Amaians. It is comprised of the most powerful and influential families in Amaian society. Membership is dynastic, with either the matriarch or the patriarch of the ruling families assuming positions within the Cabal. The Cabal rules with absolute authority and strictly enforces its will. Although the Cabal has authority to deploy the military, the military is not part of the dynastic system, a division that may protect its powerbase of the Cabal from popular war heroes.

Although there is competition for power and influence amongst the families, the Amaian culture does not prize individualism, and most members of the Cabal ultimately strive for the greater good of their race.
