History

In A.E. 574, just 39 years after the destruction of the Sheol Locus the Ait Benir played a tragically heroic and integral role in driving back the Cleax in the Third Cleax Invasion in a battle known as The Battle of the Sarkeen. The Sarkeen were permitted to approach the flagship of Emperor Lin Sber'ana of the Ait Benir and his complement of guardian starships, but suddenly and without warning, the Sarkeen unleashed their biological EMPs, powerful enough to overcome the defenses the fleet's Phoenix Cruisers. Almost simultaneously, they poured incredibly destructive clouds of 'spores' that attached themselves to any metal object and quickly began reducing it to component atoms into space around the ships.

The rest of the alliance immediately moved to begin attacking the Sarkeen, but to the horror of all, it was too late for the Emperor's flagship and the core of the Ait Benir forces. Within minutes, the starships exposed to the spores began to disintegrate from the outside in as the armor shielding around the superstructure was quickly eaten away at. Great gouts of escaping atmosphere pointed to each fresh wound a ship, and quickly thereafter it wasn't just atmosphere, but bodies as well. The battle went on to be won by the alliance, formed of the United Atarsid Nation, the Rek, the Corran and Lha Ti of the Ibyssian Brotherhood, the Zinari Imperium, and, surprisingly, the Iron Corsairs.

Culture

The Ait Benir created the Serene Empire which consists of their own substantial empire and a considerable number of populated worlds including the nearby Nara Protectorate. It is currently trying to squash the Ayyubir Insurgency.
