The Council of Great Family Elders is one of the three branches of the Shen government along with the Judiciary and Assembly. Each of the great families of the Shen are represented, usually by not always by the family elder. The Council's representatives chose one member from among themselves to lead the Shen as the Prime Elder, currently Jatt Yaghah. The Council has the power to propose new legislation which must be ratified by the Assembly.
