There are some general skills every pilot may find useful, they involve mining, movement and transfer skills.

AUTOPILOT

Your initial proficiency in Captaincy confers basic knowledge of piloting ships using an autopilot. You can either program it to go a certain distance in a direction, or you can program it to go to a station, planet, or zone by name.

TETHERING

You are now capable of tethering asteroids and dragging them to a space station or a planet for processing by a refinery. While an asteroid is tethered, its mass will be added to the mass of the ship, and rotation speed will be reduced. A tethered asteroid retains your mark for several hours, should you lose control over it for any reason, and cannot be tethered by anyone else for the duration. Once you have dragged the asteroid to a planet or station, you can refine it. The REFINERY command will display all relevant syntaxes.

EVA

You are now able to enter the outer space in a suit, and to move around. The SPACEWALK command will show all syntaxes.

WIDESCOOPS

You can now deploy gas scoops over a wider area. Your gas scoops will now collect gas clouds from surounding locations, in addition to your current one. Once you have collected enough gas, you can deliver it at a planetary or space station refinery for processing. The REFINERY command will display all relevant syntaxes.

DOCKING

Your proficiency in captaincy has grown such that you may now dock your ship with a station much faster, reducing the time taken to dock by half.

TRANSFERS

You can now transfer cargo to another ship, or load it off one. The captain of the target ship must be present, and must AGREE to the connection. At any time, either captain can SHIP DISCONNECT to break the connection. Moving either ship breaks the connection as well.

HARVESTDRONES

If you are standing in a gas cloud and provided you have harvesting drones in your ship's cargo storage, you may SHIP DEPLOY DRONES to send out your swarm. These drones will automatically harvest the gas from the cloud you are in. You need to have your scoops deployed and either be standing on a patch of gas or be adjacent to it. You must also keep the ship still, flying away will recall the drones to you. The more drones you have on your ship, the faster the process is (this caps out at having 6 drones, as each harvest drone unit is representative of a small swarm). **CURRENTLY ONLY WORKS WITH SUPERHAULER CLASS SHIPS**

DETONATE

Should the situation call for it, you may now detonate your entire ship, causing damage to everything within an 8 tile radius and killing all nearby space walkers. This damage is reduced by range, and occurs after five seconds of initation of the detonate command, allowing for a rather short period to reconsider your destructive actions. While you will be able to escape personally unscathed, the ship itself will be utterly destroyed.
