Swarmships were a type of starship used by the Sapphire Cults of the Jeweled Heresy. They used massive attacks of these small vessels to overwhelm their enemies, and had a particular rivalry with the Sooq and their Faceless Emperor.
It is thought that the Cults were a rather fanatical race. They died out in a mass suicide mission against the Ishvana in the War of Extinction approximately 42,000 years ago, and were indeed one of the races to become extinct as a result of it.
