Synthboard

The synthboard has evolved from ancient instruments called pianos and are played much the same way; the tactile satisfaction of tinkling the ivories not yet lost on civilization. At a very basic level, they are a long series of keys, each representing a certain note or sound, and are played by pushing down on these keys rhythmically and in combination to produce the desired sounds or melodies. However, they come in a whole host of forms, from the basic through to cutting-edge tech. The instruments hum with energy, and are capable of being programmed to emit a wide range of noises. Sometimes the keys are made simply and physically from nanoplastic, but they can also be formed out of projected hard light worked with haptic sensors or played by nanites. They are usually inbuilt with speaker systems, although standalone synthboard hardware can be rigged up to professional level recording and amplification systems. They usually come with some kind of seating for the musician's comfort.
