A shellback is a giant snapping turtle native to the Locorin Swamp. It moves through the muddy terrain with some difficulty on four stout legs, but with its sharp beak and sturdy, bowl-shaped carapace, the shellback is able to resist predation without a great deal of effort. Moss, fungi, and other Locorin plantlife are able to take root in the layers of mud that eventually cake onto its shell, affording mature shellbacks a great deal of natural camouflage.
