Muriapede

A terrestrial arthropod native to Hororeon, varieties of muriapedes are found in several different climates, including the tropical jungles, mountainous cloud forests and even polluted urban environments. Muriapedes have dozens of legs that poke out from beneath interlocking plates of carapace which ripple like waves as it moves around, and a pair of extendable mouthparts called venipalps, which it uses as sensory organs as well as natural weapons. Using fine hairs and spiracules to perceive motion and chemicals in the air, the muriapede is able to sniff out scraps from the larger predators of Hororeon and track down insects small enough for it to hunt despite its complete lack of light-sensitive eyes.

There are an incredible number of muriapede species across the planet, and while the urban varieties are considered to be pests, their more colorful and exotic cousins remain popular pets for collectors across the sector.
