A xylophagous fungus native to Kovalar that grows in cool, wet climates, the parasitic ahoja propagates as many deep-gilled blue shelves that cluster off of the side of their host, which are widely cultivated (despite the deleterious effects it has on the trees) so that Shen arborists can collect its sticky spores. Ahoja gum, a tacky and water-soluble paste made from the spores, is a common food additive used for its cool, bright and menthol-sharp flavor, and the sharp cooling sensation that it imparts.
