Skirmishing is a general skill that all Starmourn players have access to. It includes a number of very basic combat abilities.

You can increase your knowledge of skirmishing by using lessons.

This skill takes 1750 total lessons to complete.

Abilities in Skirmishing

Ability Description
Cover Take cover behind props.
Command: TAKE COVER <PROP>, LEAVE COVER, FLIP <PROP>

Can Target: Others

Your combat knowledge allows you to take cover behind various props that can be found at your location.

Unarmed Master unarmed combat.
Command: PUNCH <TARGET>, KICK <TARGET>
Lessons: 0 Lessons
Ability type: Melee
Can Target: Others
Base Balance Time: 3.0 seconds

For those mornings after the night before when you find yourself stripped of weapons and dignity, you can use the most basic attacks - punching and kicking.

Escape Flee from combat.
Command: CRASH <DIR>
Lessons: 5 Lessons
Ability type: Combat utility
Can Target: Others

If you've bitten off more than you can chew, disengage yourself from a combat situation, and make a hasty escape in your chosen direction.

Focusing Focus on a single target.
Command: FOCUS <TARGET|ALL>
Lessons: 30 Lessons
Ability type: Combat utility
Can Target: Others

Focus on the actions of your foe, ignoring anything happening at your location that does not concern you. This ability will hide attack messages that are directed at anyone other than you.

Evaluation Weigh up a foe.
Command: EVALUATE <TARGET>

Ability type: In-room non-combat targeted
Base Balance Time: 2.0 seconds

By comparing your level against the level of the target, you can assess their threat level. This assessment may be inaccurate, but it should provide you with the general idea.

Discharge Purge yourself of residual EM energy.
Command: DISCHARGE

Purge all residual electromagnetic energy from yourself.

Silentorders Non-verbal communication.
Command: SIGNAL <TEXT>

Silently signal to those who are taking cover behind the same prop as you.

Pacify Calm a creature.
Command: PACIFY <TARGET>

Attempt to calm a creature to stop it from fighting. Your chance of success is based on the difference between your level and your target's, but is never a guarantee.

Quickdraw Swiftly draw a weapon.

Impress your friends! Outdraw your enemies! Swiftly wield something without any balance cost! Best you get it right on the first draw, partner, there is a cooldown.

Slink Slink into the shadows.
Command: SLINK

Base Balance Time: 1.5 seconds

Slink into the shadows to make yourself invisible to casual observers. Movement will end the effect.

Arson It is a pleasure to burn.
Command: ARSON

Share your warm and caring personality with everyone, commit an act of arson! If you're successful, the room will be set on fire, causing damage to everyone present.

Snare Set up a snare trap.

Base Balance Time: 3.0 seconds

Set up a snare trap at the location. Anyone attempting to cross through the exit in either direction will be tripped and thrown to the ground.

Divert Divert attention from yourself.

Nothing to see here, you promise. Attempt to look as nonthreatening as possible making denizens less likely to attack you.

Overwatch Watch for movement in a direction.

Base Balance Time: 2.0 seconds

Watch diligently for any movements to or from the location in the direction you specify.

Dashing Run away!
Command: DASH <DIR>
Lessons: 1106 Lessons
Ability type: Noncombat utility
Base Balance Time: 0.50 seconds

This ability allows you to move swiftly through several rooms in the same direction, stopping when you no longer can continue.

Huddle Just like a turtle.
Command: HUDDLE
Lessons: 1288 Lessons
Ability type: Noncombat utility
Base Balance Time: 4.0 seconds

By huddling like a turtle, you reduce all incoming damage by 40%, This effect lasts for a fairly short time.

Pounce Pounce on an unsuspecting victim.
Command: POUNCE <TARGET>
Lessons: 1501 Lessons
Ability type: In-room ranged
Can Target: Others
Base Balance Time: 2.50 seconds

If you are concealed in the shadows using the SLINK ability, you can then pounce upon an unsuspecting target, disrupting their balance. If your target is prone, it will cause damage instead.

Command: NONE

Ability type: Noncombat utility (Passive)
