Mir is the capital city of the Nusrizan homeworld, Frixion VI.
The capital of Frixion VI, Mir, is a sight that few visitors to the planet ever forget - a forest of disc-like buildings lofting above the clouds on slender stalks from horizon to hiring, with the center spire, and the location of the Monarch’s Throng, being as large and complex as a small island.
Places of interest:
Horizon's Reign is both the central spire in the capital city as well as the first spire ever erected. Originally meant to be the home for the Tajhan and their throng, over time, it has been repurposed for more political interests; now, it houses the embassies of the Song Dominion affiliates as well as the Welkin Fastness, the monarch’s seat of power. As the oldest spire in Mir, the Reign is constantly repaired, restored, and reinforced: the latest update included baryonic titanium plating around its dome (which cost a hefty sum in taxes, much to the chagrin of the citizenry). The spire, and the Fastness more specifically, is also the location of Spire Defense Headquarters, which acts as Mir's police force.
Spacer's Landing is the main spacer spire in Mir. Built after the Nusriza formally joined the Song Dominion, its construction was controversial, to say the least. Echanism protested, and as such, the spire was not finished until a year well after the end of the Echanine Schism (roughly 2306 AD). The Landing's primary purpose is to provide amenities and temporary lodging for Dominion allies and other visitors, as well as give access to the capital city by way of its starport. A Spire Defense checkpoint requires passing before full entry into the Landing and city proper. There are a couple of places in the Landing that are worth mentioning:
- Giskon's is a gift shop that sells a variety of airport-esque goods.
- Silver Lining is a bar frequented mostly by spacers that caters in off-world fare. The bar was built in the aftermath of the Second Bushraki War by Zirilo Jorayar who fought in it. Zirilo's medal of service hangs over the bar in his memory.
- Spire Defense - Landing Division is an outpost of the larger Spire Defense organization in the Landing. It was placed to keep the peace after a series of violent protests that occurred roughly five or six years after the Landing officially opened.
- Serguyen-Olano Starport is the main starport within Mir. It is named after the throng name of two of Mir's early Tajhans.
- Erguena Industries is one of the few farming spires that exclusively raises crezan silk flies to produce silk for merchants, fashion houses, and the Tajhan himself. It was originally owned by both the Erguena and Resolos throngs; however, the Resolos were summarily wiped out during the Echanine Schism. The Erguenas bought the remaining shares and continued running the business to this day. Erguena Industries specializes in handmade silk, and it often hires Nusriza who have recently emerged from their Quickening.
- Zenith Basilica is the most well-known church/temple to Echannine that is maintained as a site of historical significance by the Mir government. Ever since the Schism, the congregant population of the Basilica has reduced significantly; as such, it is generally unused save for a handful of services for those throngs that still 'keep the faith' and a certain religio-cultural practices like funerals and weddings.
- Science and Technologies is one of the larger spires in Mir, and it houses the two main tech corporations (each of which specialize in sensor technology). However, despite their shared location, there is a bitter rivalry between the two and neither is above corporate sabotage. These corporations are Oculus Unlimited and SensaTech. Oculus has a strong species-pride mentality, tending to prefer Nusriza over any other candidate; SensaTech, on the other hand, searches beyond the planet for talent and often utilizes VI technology.
- Halcyon Promenade is the largest of four mercantile and entertainment spires in Mir. There are three locations worth mentioning:
The Tajhan's Amphitheater is a public concert hall for music but also local (and vocal) competitions amongst Nusriza.
Ozone is a bar/club frequently visited by Nusriza and other citizens/visitors of Mir (think hookah bar with leesa) that has DJs play Nusrizan throat singing augmented with electronica.
The Cloudspout is a mall-like tower that contains numerous storefronts and businesses. These include: Oculus Unlimited and SensaTech (sensors); Madina's Sundries (a general/grocery store); Osquila Ordnances and Munition (weaponry); Azarra Fabrications (armor); House of Crezan (high-fashion atelier); Crazy Jerry's Darkstar Parcel Delivery; and The Salted Grub, a premiere restaurant that overlooks the entire Promenade.
