Black lotus

The black lotus is an aquatic flower native to Kovalar with remarkably long, black petals which drape out around a strikingly red, orb-like pistil. It floats in rivers and shallow bodies of water on a wide, tubelike network of roots whose hollow pathways make them the ideal shelter for small aquatic organisms, and for carrying sauces and dips once dried and fried. The pistil oozes a thick, saccharine syrup while growing which soaks into the tightly wound petals which makeup the bulb and results in a plump, candy-sweet morsel if harvested early enough.

Once they bloom, the flowers are known for their beauty and the grace with which they float along the water's surface, and are used to allude to the pleasant passing of time in traditional artistic references.
