The kipler tree is a dangerous conifer native to Chion which thrives in soil that has been enriched by rotting meat, and has developed both carnivory and symbiosis to better fertilize the forest floor. It has a thick canopy of spiny yellow leaves, dark wood, and blue-black bark full of nutrient-rich oils which creeper vines extract regularly. The roots of the kipler tree are semiambulatory; though they are unable to move the weight of the tree from place to place, they are able to slowly shift through the dirt in search of moisture, or if exposed, tear into animals with their thorny teeth.
