Maki paws
A domesticated crop native to Kovalar; the maki paw is a many-lobed succulent that grows rounded and rubbery leaves, whose segmented interiors are removed and used as a staple of Shen cooking. When squeezed out of its rubbery casing, the flaky flesh is dense but tender, with a very muted umami. Each leaf has a series of lateral pink nubs that resemble the paws of the makira, from which the plant gets its name.
