Ladzoumi

Ladzoumi is a type of climbing vine native to Kovalar with long, pointed green leaves. They bloom with short clumps of yellow-green flowers that cluster beneath growth nodes alone the vine, which wilt and drop once its fruits begin to develop. Each fruit grows from a tendril that sprouts from one of these pollinated growth nodes; initially just a textured lump, each fruit elongates and curls as it grows until it's a fully ripened and conically shaped spring with rubbery red skin bubbled with white spots. The flesh is incredibly tart when fresh and filled with a thin nectar which dries the mouth, tightening the facial muscles and resulting in a silly-looking pucker. The flavor mellows when cooked, but only slightly.

Ripe ladzoumi fruits are popular toys for the young Shen, much to the chagrin of their elders, as the flexible, springy flesh bounces playfully in hand, eliciting a silly squeak with each contraction.
