Jayantha Tree

The Jayantha Tree is an immense tree native to Hororeon, most prevalent in tropical areas such as the Saksar Jungle.

Also known colloquially as the ashet tree, the salver tree or the platter tree, given to its huge, circular leaves, which curve upwards at the edges to form a convex surface to best absorb water and catch the light.

The tree can easily grow up to two hundred meters tall, with the variety Jayanta Gigantor reaching heights of up to five hundred meters - making it the tallest tree known at present to the sector.

The roots grow tall above the ground (as well as enormous underneath) and form natural arches, under which many types of fern and shrub have evolved - often forming natural tunnels and pathways through the jungle. The canopies form the habitat and diet for a whole host of wildlife; flora, fauna and other plants that thrive at the different levels of its branches.

Its leaves are one of the primary foods of the Pijak ape, native to Hororeon, and are used by many as a material for building, fabric manufacturing, handicrafts, and indeed the tender Jayantha shoot is considered a delicacy to many - often marinated and fried, or sliced thinly and served raw as an accompaniment to meat dishes - it has a mild, nutty taste with a toothsome and crunchy texture.
