The saman is a green leafy vegetable crop grown in hydroponic towers on Kovalar and its colonies by the Shen. Its woody bulb has been cultivated to rapidly grow long and crisp leaves used as a food staple. There are several varieties of saman, with the most common being long saman that have a fresh and almost watery taste with a bitter aftertaste, while curling saman grows a shock of curling leaves that are darker in color and have a more pronounced bitter flavor.
