Kashir Trees are a large, deciduous genus of tree native to Krell, in the Tethan system. Their smooth, pale bark is renowned for its pleasant scent, similar to the smell of a conifer (though they are a distinct species), emitted by its resin, which contains terpenes to deter herbivores and pests, and may contribute to cloud-seeding, intensifying rainfall (which is not in short supply on Krell).

The resin is used commonly in Krell (and more recently off-world) to produce biodegradable plastics, an oil solvent, fungicides and pest repellent. Some Tohs have even begun to cultivate these trees specifically, fertilizing the soil with a specially-prepared cocktail of nutrients and Grethan grub pheromones, gently heating and drying the trees themselves despite the climate, which has the effect of pushing the trees to over-produce resin, which then beads up on the surface of the trunk and hardens for collection. Due to the great size of the kashir tree, the special equipment needed to extract the resin, and the inherent danger posed to the environment, plantations like these are very rare.

Kashir resin is an expensive component of high end perfumes which have the fortunate side-effect of repelling insects native to Krell.

While it will cause liver complications if consumed in significant quantities, a spritz of kashir aerosol is considered to be a stylish garnish for many fruit-flavoured cocktails.
