Liquorberries, native to the sunny side of Decheeran homeworld Atria, are small, nodular berries that look black, but which contain a sweet, rich purple juice that almost tastes alcoholic when at its ripest, hence the name.
In fact, liquorberry wine is a popular home-made drink in Sabiak, due to the abundance of the fruit in areas such as the greenwilds that can be foraged, as well as how easy it is to grow the berries at home, on attractive and hardy little bushes often contained in pots and planters on balconies, desks and hydronponics bays alike.
The wine is traditionally made by churning the berries in a Berrybarrel - a wooden cask which spins on a pivot - to bruise and tenderize them, and cramming the barrel as full as possible with more and more berries as they break down, until a spigot can be hammered into the base and the fermented juice can be extruded from a little tap straight into a receptacle or bottle.
