They are a hollow circular bowl or barrel shape, with some kind of skin or covering on at least one end that is struck to create a percussive noise, used to create rhythm and keep a beat in music. Drums range from small bongos that are made from wood and played with the hands, right up to barrel-sized [[kithdrums]] made from [[paristeel]] and infused with [[star kith]].
