Native to the planet [[Selubir]], this tree grows in vast forests, with deep purple bark, pale gray wood, and thick, bladed lavender leaves well-suited to shearing through the fierce windstorms of the [[Coriolis Mountains]]. Clusters of tiny kernels grow in the protection of its leaves, and when properly prepared and fried, they burst into popular snack [[popkern]]. 

When pulped, strained and properly prepared, the xaocoren bark is used to create [[xao purple]], a lustrous dark purple dye suitable for paints and dyeing clothing.
