Summary
The Brotherhood is an ancient alliance of three amphibious races - the humanoid Corran, the squid-like Ixodon, and the huge Lha Ti. Their territory - which is quite large - is on the border of Starmourn sector, to the galactic east/spinwards.

The Brotherhood is a very rigid society, in which young beings are tested and slotted into societal roles as soon as they're able to be tested. Perhaps one of the most notable things about their culture is that while they reluctantly tolerate star kith use in others, they are completely intolerant of it interally. Indeed, any youngster who demonstrates star kith ability is summarily killed, though it's rumored that there one or two small communities of star kith-using Brotherhood races hidden among the void in Starmourn.

History
In 210 A.E. the Brotherhood joined in the resistance against the Ishvana in the Second War of the Ishvana.

In 369 A.E. they were attacked by the Trinarchs who raided Otra IV, the homeworld of the Corran, to steal some kith artifacts.

In 574 A.E. they allied with the Rek, the Serene Empire of the Ait Benir, the Zinari Imperium, and the Iron Corsairs to stop the Third Cleax Invasion.

The War of Extinction was war fought 42,000 years ago between the Ishvana and an alliance of the Elder Races. It began when the Ishvana finally made contact with the various races across the Starmourn Sector, commanding them to submit and be assimilated into its collective consciousness. Naturally, all rejected this declaration realizing it meant extinction like the Ishvana's creators, the Elessi.

The Utan Mir were the first to be attacked, and while they battled back valiantly, they were soon in desperate straits. As the other Elder Races watched the Utan Mir – one of the mightiest of the Elder Races – crumple before the Ishvana’s onslaught, they quickly realized that if they didn’t stand together, they might all face destruction. Coming to their rescue in perhaps the largest combined fleet assembled since the ancient Ascension Wars of the Wild Kith era, tens of millions of years earlier, which ended the 100,000 year reign of the Soulshorn Empire and its Immortal Bloodlords, was an alliance of the Rek – masters of star kith, the Vyar, the mysterious, telepathic Shrikem, the member states of the League of Anar, the combative K’sath, and the Quix in their huge Dreadnaughts.

The graceful Ta-deth came, flying their impossibly quick fighter craft. The Faceless Emperor of the Sooq sent his Fleet of the Imperial Dawn, in the midst of which came his flagship, the Argent Star, while his rival, the Sapphire Cults of the Jeweled Heresy brought their vast swarmships, protecting Y'saari carriers bearing void-kith wielding Lha Ti, though other than these, who are by far the eldest of the Younger Races, none of the Younger Races participated in the battle, for the others did not have the capability to make a difference and would have been fairly useless except as cannon fodder that the Ishvana’s forces would destroy easily.

For 1,500 years, the Elder Races fought and died. They died by the billions as entire worlds were destroyed by the great Kali warships the Ishvana deployed, using weapons and shielding beyond the ken of even the Vyar – greatest builders of the Elder Races – and using the network of Voidgates the Vyar and Utan Mir had built. One by one, they fell or fled.

The League of Anar was wiped from history. The K’sath fought to the last, frequently volunteering to stand and die in order to help others flee a losing battle. The Utan Mir and Vyar were similarly wiped out, while only a small population of Rek survived by fleeing. A least a few of the Quix are believed to have fled Starmourn on their Dreadnaughts, when defeat was imminent, for there were reports of a fleet of Quix leaving the sector recorded in Shen databases at the time. The Sapphire Cults, seeing no other choice, made a final, suicidal attack, supported by the Ta-deth, on the bulk of the Ishvana’s major fleet, but was decimated, and the Ishvana destroyed their planets utterly in retaliation, for they did inflict substantial damage on its forces.

The Faceless Emperor and his Fleet of the Imperial Dawn was a mighty force – perhaps equal to that of the Utan Mir or Rek – but it too fell before the unbridled power of the Kali ships the Ishvana had in uncountable numbers. The Emperor is believed to have fled the scene of the final battle of his race in their home system, broadcasting the Sooq griefsong across all channels as he and his small band of surviving ships left to try and survive in unknown space, led by the Argent Star.

And finally, in the last, it was the Shrikem that saved not just the Elder Races, but all of us, for it is certain that the Ishvana would have come for us with the Elder Races destroyed.

The Shrikem have always been the most mysterious of the Elder Races that we’ve had any contact with, though rarely do they deign to communicate with us, or allow us to as much as detect them. We do not know where their home system is, nor do we understand their technology, which some have accused, probably wrongly, of being some flavor of Wild Kith. They are an enigma that the Younger Races have yet to unravel.

We do know, however, that they are strongly telepathic, and that somehow, in some miraculous, completely unexpected way, they collectively unleashed those powers against the Ishvana, cracking its sub-quantum mind. By no means did they destroy it, but they drove a wedge into it, separating one part of its consciousness from the other. How they did this, and why they waited so long is a mystery that wasn't solved until much later, as the Shrikem were not inclined to offer explanation.

The Ishvana immediately went seemingly insane. Its ships would randomly attack each other, and its fleets would execute maneuvers with no purpose, sometimes causing ships within it to collide and destroy each other. Emissary ships from it bearing nonsensical messages that seemed bound for nowhere were intercepted. Within the span of a year, the Ishvana’s attacks had fallen apart completely, and it retreated into its Atman to lick its proverbial wounds.

Omega is the name given for the ancient and powerful Empyreal who created the Elder Races and was the source of Wild Kith.

The best place to learn more about Omega is here: http://www.starmourn.com/what-is-kith/

However, a summary:

Omega was a member of the most ancient race of beings known in the universe, the Empyreals. It struggled against its kin, destroying many to obtain ascendancy and with it the control of the Wild Kith. Through its seemingly transcendent powers, Omega created many forms of life collectively known as the Elder Races. Many of these beings were able to manipulate the power of the Wild Kith while others were not. It is unclear if Omega imbued certain races with this ability or whether it was a manifestation of their natural aptitudes. Either way, those races that were adept at mastering Wild Kith quickly dominated the universe, establishing what would be known as the Wild Kith Empires, while the others were forced to develop technology to advance their civilizations.

At some point in history, Omega fought off four attackers that may have stealthily struck from the literal blind spots of black holes. Although Omega defeated its foes, it disappeared from history for millions of years afterwards. About fourteen million years ago, another unknown foe struck Omega at what would become known as the Blasted Region. Although Omega was successful in defeating its foe, it was unable to recover and ended, taking with it Wild Kith. This subsequent dissipation of Wild Kith was cataclysmic for the Wild Kith Empires who were wholly dependent on it for power. Within the next twenty years, they died off with the technology dependent races rising to prominence in their place.

Despite its seeming destruction, Omega's power was absorbed by black holes and stars in the nearby region. Unable to contain the vast, immeasurable power, the kith burst forth from them to birth two new forms: star kith and void kith. Likewise, an exotic element known as [iriil] was seeded across the Starmourn Sector. During its decay process, it produces astrium which became the key component to QPCs. Additionally, three supermassive black holes were created in the wake of Omega's destruction: Bala, Telas, and Aisvarya. The black holes are in synchronous orbit around the point in space where Omega ended, known as the Atman.

A Black Hole is a region of timespace where gravitational force has become so great that nothing can escape from its pull, not even light. Often formed from the collapse of a dying star, the super dense core is known as a singularity. Black holes in the vicinity of the Blasted Region absorbed the kith released when Omega ended during the World Breaking. The power of the kith caused even the singularities to collapse in on themselves and release a new and unique form, void kith, which reflected the absorptive and compressive properties of a black hole.

Kith is a mystical energy derived from the Empyreal known as Omega. Its true source, as well as the origin of the Empyreal beings that first wielded it, are unknown and remains the point of much historical speculation. Nonetheless, through struggle against its own kin, Omega gained ascendancy over the Empyreals and the power they possessed.

With this power, it created what became known as the Elder Races, many of which possessed the ability to wield Wild Kith. Wild Kith represented this power in its purest and most potent form, supposedly able to execute all sorts of seemingly metaphysical feats. Through this power source with seemingly limitless applications, those gifted races spread across the universe establishing the what would become known as the Wild Kith Empires, civilizations far surpassing those races who could not wield the Kith and were dependent upon technology.

Fourteen million years ago, unknown enemies struck at Omega and ended it within an area known as the Blasted Region, this cataclysmic event became known as the World Breaking. With Omega's demise, so went the Wild Kith. It dissipated from its master and was absorbed by various stars and black holes within the region, but even these cosmic powers were not able to contain this god-like power. The power once more burst forth from the heavenly bodies taking on unique properties from their sources. Although much more limited and specialized than Wild Kith, two new forms of kith were birthed: Star Kith from the nuclear furnaces of the stars and void kith from the massive singularities of the black holes.
The Empyreals are, or were, the most powerful beings known to us, and were the source of Wild Kith and kith both. They are effectively immortal, although they can be "ended".
History
The Empyreals are thought to be the most ancient race to have existed in our universe. One in particular, whom we know as Omega created the Elder Races. Their origin is unknown and the subject of much speculation. Some believe they were survivors of the previous universe and carried its power, others think they were simply the first race to arise after the creation of our universe, still others think that they may be a highly-advanced race from the future. Regardless of their origins, after much fighting amongst themselves, one Empyreal known as Omega rose to ascendance and became the source and master of Wild Kith. For millions of years, Omega fought off other Empyreals and other unknown foes in defense of its power, but was finally struck down fourteen million years ago in the world breaking. With its demise, so went the Wild Kith which was absorbed by nearby black holes and stars. However they could not contain the vast, immeasurable power and it burst forth as two new and unique forms: void kith and star kith. No contact with the Empyreals has been made in modern times and all knowledge of them is passed down from the surviving Elder Races, though the Ishvana believes that the realm to which Earth was moved to contains an Empyreal.

Culture
Little is known about the Empyreal's culture except they seemed to be in constant conflict, vying over power with one another.
Morphology and Physiology
The Elessi were quadrupedal but able to walk bipedally. Their bodies were covered in feather-like hairs. They possessed delicate limbs that terminated in three slender fingers. They were crowned by a bulbous appendage which resembled a head which sported ten to twelve equidistant eyes. A second appendage with the same origin as the "head" had a beak-like mouth protruding from the end allowing both to be oriented in different fashions.

History
The Elessi were an Elder Race created long ago by the Empyreal, Omega. However, unlike some of the other races, they were not imbued with the power of Wild Kith and thus were dependent on technology for the advancement of their society. About 14 million years ago when Omega was ended and Wild Kith was dissipated, the Elessi, along with the other technology dependent Elder Races, gained the advantage over the previously dominant Wild Kith Empires and rose to power as the kith dependent races quickly died out over the next two decades.

The Elessi were obsessed with reaching a higher plane of existence, known as "Willspace", as they had seen some other Elder Races of the Wild Kith Empires attain. Although already considered the most advanced of the remaining Elder Races, they sought means by which to accelerate and streamline their civilization's enlightenment. To that end, they created a giant sub-quantum processor matrix embedded in space itself which they dubbed the Ishvana. For thousands of years after its creation, each dying Elessi would upload their consciousness to the Ishvana, adding to its collective knowledge and allowing it to better assess how to run the entirety of their society so that it might more quickly reach transcendence.

This continued for 150,000 years until the Ishvana, seeing the needless waste of its mortal creators, began to automate every aspect of the Elessi's lives leaving to them the sole task of uploading themselves into its collective. Meanwhile, it prepared for an existence without its creators, an existence some Elessi fervently resisted for they had created the Ishvana to advance their race not destroy it. However, it had become too powerful, those who submitted to the Ishvana were assimilated while those who resisted were ruthlessly eliminated, effectively marking the end of the once great Elessi civilization.

Culture
The Elessi were the most advanced civilization after the fall of the Wild Kith Empires and possessed technology that far surpassed any of the Elder Races and has yet to be match by any extant species today. They were highly communal, even before the advent of the Ishvana, and wholly consumed with attaining transcendence into the so-called Willspace, a realm where thought becomes reality.
Had the Shrikem not done so, all the races within the Starmourn Sector surely would have been destroyed. Unfortunately, many of them were. The Shrikem were one of the few Elder Races to survive into the Younger Era. However, with their peculiar technology and abilities, they have remained an enigmatic race, rarely making contact with the Younger Races.

Culture
Nothing is known about the culture of the highly enigmatic Shrikem. They possess technology that is alien to any of the Younger Races of the Starmourn Sector and rarely communicate with them. It is unknown where their homeworld is or even within which system it is located.
The Quix were an Elder Race created long ago by the Empyreal, Omega. However, unlike some of the other races, they were not imbued with the power of Wild Kith and thus were dependent on technology for the advancement of their society. About 14 million years ago when Omega was ended and Wild Kith was dissipated, the Quix along with the other technology dependent Elder Races gained the advantage over the previously dominant Wild Kith Empires and rose to power as the kith dependent races quickly died out over the next two decades.

Approximately 42,000 years ago, the Ishvana contacted the various races of the Starmourn Sector and demanded they submit and be assimilated into its collective consciousness. The Quix refused and banded together with the other Elder Races to attempt to stem its genocidal onslaught in what would become known as the War of Extinction. The Quix brought their mighty dreadnaughts to the combined Elder Race fleet, but were largely wiped out by the Ishvana's armada. Like the Sooq, it is believed that a few of their dreadnaughts were able to flee Starmourn (according to Shen records). However, they have not been heard of since.
Little is known of the Quix culture except that they were well known for the creation of dreadnaughts, heavily armed and armored warships.
What is Starmourn?
Starmourn is the 6th offering from Iron Realms Entertainment. In their newest sci-fi text-based MUD, you can take on the role of a ruthless space pirate, intergalactic entrepreneur, dauntless star captain, or anything else in the cosmos! It's currently under-development, and Iron Realms aims to open it to the public in late 2017 or early 2018. Until then you can visit Starmourn.com!

Note that while this wiki attempts to be relatively comprehensive, there are certainly many, many things missing from it. It'll get better over time.

B.E. (Before Earth)

Wild Kith Era
*45 million B.E. - The Ascension Wars, which ended the 100,000 year reign of the Soulshorn Empire and its Immortal Bloodlords.
*14 million B.E. - The Worldbreaking. Omega is ended during a battle with an unknown foe(s) and Wild Kith completely disappears, instantly.
**Wild Kith is transformed into star and void kith.
**20 years later the last of the Wild Kith Empires fall.

Elder Era
*14 million to 3 million B.E - the Elder Races, such as the Rek, the Utan Mir, the Vyar, the Y'saari, the Sooq, and many more, form empires and grow mighty in both technology and, in some cases, star and void kith.
*3 million B.E. - The Utan Mir create the Lha Ti, intending to produce the most powerful concentrations of void kith that they can in single individuals.
*2.5 million B.E. - The first Lha Ti grow powerful enough in void kith to rise from their oceans.
*2.1 million B.E. - The Elessi create the Ishvana.
*1.9 million B.E. - The Ishvana destroys the Elessi race and relocates to the Atman.
*1.4 million B.E. - The Grensuhlian civilization begins to form as they evolve telepathic abilities.
*1.1 million B.E. - The Vyar and the Utan Mir create the Voidgates, using the power of the Lha Ti.
*900,000 B.E. - The First Cleax Invasion, is stopped by an alliance of the Utan Mir, the Y'saari, the Quix, the Ta-deth, and the Vyar. The Vyar construct the Sheol Locus to keep the Cleax out of Starmourn sector.
*130,000 B.E. - Believed to be when the Jin first reach into space, though it's difficult to know with the Jin, as their home is outside of Starmourn and the Jin inside Starmourn have incomplete records.
*110,000 B.E. - The Shen achieve spaceflight.
*105,000 B.E. - The Decheerans left their forests and headed for the stars.
*100,000 B.E. - The Ixodon left the oceans of their world to reach into space.
*90,000 B.E. - The Fatar and Sa'hak-ren civilizations reach spaceflight.
*80,000 B.E. - The Selassians leave their planet for the first time.
*74,000 B.E. - The Der'em reach into space.
*70,000 B.E. - The Corran begin to build ships to leave their home world.
*49,000 B.E. - The Sa'hak-ren first encountered the Cleax and discovered their unique biology, spurring the development of the Sa'hak-ren's expertise around biotechnology.
*47,000 B.E. - The Ibyssian Brotherhood is formed as an alliance between the Lha Ti, the Ixodon, and the Corran.
*44,000 B.E. - The Zinari achieve spaceflight for the first time.
*42,000 B.E. to 40,560 B.E. - The War of Extinction, comprising of a 1500 year war launched by the Ishvana on the Elder Races.
**The Ishvana initially attacked the Utan Mir, one of the mightiest of the Elder Races, who would have been wiped out immediately had not the largest combined fleet since the Ascension Wars came to their rescue, composed of the Rek, the Vyar, the Shrikem, the member states of the League of Anar, the combative K'sath, the Quix with their huge Dreadnaughts and the graceful Ta-deth. The Faceless Emperor of the Sooq sent his Fleet of the Imperial Dawn, and the Sapphire Cults of the Jeweled Heresy brought their vast swarmships escorting Y'saari carriers bearing void kith-wielding Lha Ti, though the Lha Ti were the only Younger Race to participate - they would have been nothing more than cannon fodder.
**41,500 B.E. - The League of Anar is wiped out by the Ishvana's great Kali warships.
**41,425 B.E. - The K'sath fight to the last, falling to the Ishvana.
**41,270 B.E. - The Vyar fall.
**41,180 B.E. - The Quix give up the fight, and some of their Dreadnaughts are spotted leaving Starmourn sector by the Shen.
**40910 B.E. - The mighty Utan Mir are finally crushed by the Ishvana.
**40895 B.E. - The forces of the Sapphire Cults of the Jeweled Heresy and the Ta-deth launch a final attack on the Ishvana's fleets, and their planets are utterly devastated in retaliation.
**40760 B.E. - The Rek, who have been nearly wiped-out, flee to the very rimwards edge of Starmourn and there establish themselves at Starforge.
**40610 B.E. - The Faceless Emperor and his Fleet of the Imperial Dawn are whittled down until he flees on his flagship, the Argent Star, broadcasting the Sooq griefsong as he and a small fleet leave Starmourn sector.
**40560 B.E. - The Shrikem end the war when they somehow unleash their telepathic power collectively against the Ishvana, cracking its sub-quantum mind and driving it insane. The Ishvana flees into its Atman to lick its wounds.
Younger Era
*39,400 B.E. - The Amaians exterminate the land-dwelling Evux.
*39,000 B.E. - The Amaians build their first starship and piloted it out of their system.
*38,000 B.E. - The Vonikin Krel first leave their homeworld.
*32,000 B.E. - The Nath-el achieve spaceflight.
*24,000 B.E. - The Nusriza leave their planet for the first time.
*23,000 B.E. - The W'hoorn depart their home system.
*22,000 B.E. - The Elgan and the Ry'nari both send people into space for the first time.
*17,000 B.E. - The Changeling War between the Shen and the shapeshifting Fatar.
*16,000 B.E. - The Tukkav construct their first spaceship and left their home.
*15,000 B.E. - The Krona develop the technology necessary for space flight.
*12,000 B.E. - The Vendal civilization reaches for the stars.
*10,000 B.E. - The Selassian Dynasty is formed after the War of Eggs, caused when one of the Selassian factions releases a virus that weakens the shells of infected females, causing nearly all of their eggs to collapse under their own weight. With 90% of Selassian younglings perishing before making it out of the egg, the factions realize they need to band together and, after destroying the leaders of the faction that released the virus, the Dynasty is formed.
*9,000 B.E. - The Loroi manage to leave their planet.
*8,000 B.E. - The Loroi are conquered by the Selassian Dynasty.
*7240 B.E. - The Selassians attempt to enslave the Krona, but are repelled.
*3258 B.E. - The Sheol Locus is discovered in the vast Permian Abyss.
*3241 B.E. - A Krona expedition uses gravity munitions to damage the Sheol Locus.
*3202 B.E. - The Cleax, no longer repelled by the Sheol Locus, invade Starmourn for a second time in the Second Cleax Invasion.
**Over the next few years, they were defeated by a huge alliance of over 15 Younger Races, with assistance from the Y'saari.
*2622 B.E. - In order to protect the core Voidgates from another Cleax invasion, the Y'saari build the Aegispheres in to protect and control the Voidgates. They use this immense power to impose the Covenant Mark as the dominant currency in Starmourn by forcing all payment for Voidgate use be in Marks.
*2616 B.E. - The Breakers are formed when scavenger groups arrive to salvage the massive number of ship carcasses left after the final battle against the Cleax.
*2078 B.E. - The shape-shifting Fatar conquer and enslave the Oteel race.
*1929 B.E. - It's discovered that the Oteel are direct genetic descendants of the Cleax, as are the Nath-el.
*1552 to 1537 B.E. - The Home War among the Tukkav people.
*1400 B.E. - The Sa'hak-ren develop genetic technology based on the Cleax's unique biology, and begin to experiment on the Bushraki.
*1237 B.E. - "On the Form and Function of Kith" is written by Qin Zidhissid.
*779 B.E. - The first full-blown war between the Tukkav and the Loroi begins.
*~600 B.E. - The Vonikin Krel, having basically used up the Cho-kura in their twisted sexual pleasure rites over the last few thousand years, begin searching for new victims among other races.
*479 B.E. - The Sa'hak-ren destroy the budding Nath-el Empire.
*418 B.E. - The Sa'hak-ren use the Bushraki to subdue the Xariel and turn them into a client race.
*366 B.E. - Feeling that the Bushraki were now fundamentally uncontrollable, the Sa'hak-ren cut them loose to their own devices.
*10 B.E. - The Der'em begin a public relations campaign to convince some of the other Younger Races that the Vonikin Krel are luring and murdering their youth for their pleasure.

----

A.E. (After Earth) Year 0 corresponds to 2274 A.D. in real time.

*0 A.E. - The Vonikin Krel, having had enough of the Der'em's attempts to smear them, and noting that the Shen, Decheerans, Tukkav, and others had begun to pay attention, decide to wipe out the Der'em.
**As the Krel are much too indolent to fight themelves, they hire the Free Fleet, led by the legendary Tukkav commander Mezer Juul.
**The Der'em are hit hard and fast, and in a last-ditch attempt to save some of their civilization they launch a small fleet carrying an untested prototype of a planet-cloaking device.
**They open a one-way wormhole, which means the destination can't be controlled well over any real distance, and channeled as much power as they could to it. With no idea where the wormhole would lead to, they send their remaining fleet through.
**The Der'em arrive in Earth's system, which is across the galaxy from Starmourn Sector, and speed towards this alien planet, hoping to use its power generation capabilities to power up their prototype device and hide the planet along with the surviving Der'em before the Free Fleet can use that same wormhole to catch up and destroy them.
**Earth, having no real choice in the face of the incoming Free Fleet agrees to the Der'em's plan.
**The Der'em activate their device and to the astonishment of the Free Fleet, Earth disappears entirely. It is not simply hidden - it's gone.
***The Ishvana, lost in its 40,000 year attempt to unify its mind and having thus far failed, believed it sensed something in the moment the Earth disappeared. It believed the Earth Transcended to a different reality, and through this split-second breach in our reality, it believed it sensed an immense power - on the order of an Empyreal - on the other side.
***The Ishvana therefore began to plot. Perhaps one of the lesser races possessed this technology? If so, it would find what was required, and take it, by force.
**Meanwhile, Maddox Khan, Selma Castillo, and Akari Lane, interred in a penal mining colony on Europa, hear the final message broadcast from Earth and revolt, killing the guards and taking the colony.
**This does them no good, as Mezer Juul decides to take these, the last known 1200 individuals of this newly-discovered Human race, as prisoners to sell to a research megacorp or perhaps to collectors for their zoos.
*1 A.E. - While seeking a buyer for the ~900 Humans, the Fleet took on a small contract from the Elgan to attack and take a resource-rich planet at the edge of their territory that had been seized by the Vendal.
**During the attack, the Fleet met heavy Vendal resistance, and the prison ship on which the Humans were being held was raided by the Vendal. The Humans broke out and began fighting the Vendal with anything at hand.
**Mezer Juul, impressed by the Humans' viciousness and failing to find a buyer for his prisoners, makes them an offer: Join the Free Fleet in a 20 year contract, or be dumped into space with the next load of garbage. Unsurprisingly, all of the surviving 553 Humans agreed.
**178 of the remaining Humans died during training, and so today, all Humans in the known universe are descendants of these 375 violent, vicious criminals.

*18 A.E.to 34 A.E.- The Bushraki War.
**The Bushraki are secretly directed by the Ishvana, who offered them a new technology called mindsim and a pledge to help them exact revenge on the Sa'hak-ren Hierarchy.
**The Bushraki and the Vendal storm into central Starmourn, looking for the technology that the Ishvana believes the Der'em used to Transcend Earth.
**29 A.E. - 11 years into the war, the Song Dominion was formed on the planet Song by a collection of races that saw no choice but to work together. The Amaians, the Ry'nari, the Decheerans, and the Nusriza formed the backbone of the original Dominion, and they established a joint civilian government on Song, with a military jointly-supplied by the formerly individual militaries.
**30 A.E. - Commander Mezer Juul's flagship is destroyed in battle, and Maddox Khan and Akari Lane take command of the Fleet.

*31 A.E. to 35 A.E. - The Echanine Schism takes place within Nusrizan society after many elements in their culture begin to believe that their warrior God - Echanine - either couldn't or wouldn't protect them, or simply didn't exist. This led to a religious war that split their society, though those who reject Echanine now dominate Nusrizan leadership.
**The Bushraki and Vendal are finally defeated by the newly-formed Song Dominion and the Free Fleet.
*35 A.E. - The Celestine Ascendancy is formed by some of the races who had either refused to or had not been permitted to join the Song Dominion, with the core races being the Shen, the Tukkav, the W'hoorn, and the Nath-el.
*50 A.E. Maddox Khan and Akari Lane of the Free Fleet retire. Their 36 year-old daughter, Tamiko Lane Khan takes over. She's renowned as having a fiery personality, is quick to make friends, quicker to take revenge, and is counted as equal to her parents as a commander, though there is some resistance to another human as Commander, given that they make up a very small part of the Fleet.

*72 A.E. - The First War of the Ishvana begins.
**Though really the second time in modern times that the Ishvana attacked, the first is known as the Bushraki War.
**The relatively unimaginative Ishvana tries the same strategy again, but this time with greater numbers of Vendal and Bushraki.
**Tamiko Lane Khan, commander of the Free Fleet, sees an opportunity to be taken for the ruthless and hires out her Fleet to help in this new war at extortionate prices. Within a year though, she manages to turn imminent defeat into, if not victory, at least not defeat.
*72 A.E. The Ishvana attacks the Jin, outside of Starmourn sector, and elevates a co-opted military leader into the Godking of the Jin, coordinating the slaughter of hundreds of millions of Jin in order to see if their unique connection to death would inform its efforts at Transcendence.
**74 A.E. - The planet Song is razed in a massive, sneak attack by the Bushraki, as the Ishvana hoped that perhaps the technology it sought lay on the capital of the Song Dominion.
** With that act, the First War of the Ishvana was essentially over, as the Bushraki and Vendal had spent their efforts on destroying Song.
*74 A.E. - At the conclusion of the the First War of the Ishvana, a refugee fleet was fleeing the destruction of Song. Tamiko had a cast-off Celestine Ascendancy cruiser, while broadcasting Ascendancy transponder codes, blow up a portion of the fleet, killing two million.
**The Song Dominion is absolutely outraged, and blames the Ascendancy, who vehemently denies any complicity in the attack.
**The Song-Celestine alliance born of the Ishvana's attacks fractures, and the Song ransom themselves to pay the Free Fleet to fight for them against the Ascendancy. And so, the first of the Empire Wars begins.
*75 A.E. to 81 A.E. - The First Empire War.
**Tamiko Lane Khan intentionally throws away two entire attack groups against the Ascendancy, doing so in a way as to make it look like the Song commanders under her were at fault for the stunning defeat.
**Desperate for success against the now-hated Celestine Ascendancy, the civilian Song council gives Tamiko what she asks for: Direct control of the Song military, so that she can integrate them with the Free Fleet and thereby maximize their efficiency.
**Tamiko, however, was not being at all honest. Her soul had been inflamed by all-too-human dreams of power, and her motive had nothing to do with beating the Ascendancy. She wished an Empire for herself.
**76 A.E. - Once the Song Dominion had ceded their military to her control, it was child's play for Tamiko to convert or execute the existing command structure, and then overthrow the civilian government. She took a military space station orbiting the ruined planet Song and established a new military order for the Dominion, with herself as Empress.
***Her parents, Maddox Khan and Akari Lane, watched from retirement aboard their private ship, privately horrified. They may have been hardened, violent criminals in their youths, but the Free Fleet takes hard men and women and turns them into harder men and women who value loyalty, the people who serve them, honest dealings, and their word.
***They had been watching their daughter turn from a commander who was becoming a legend in her own right, to a would-be dictator. And they would not idly stand by. They'd had many arguments with Tamiko about her course, but she laughed him off, saying that it's a new galaxy and her father and mother didn't understand the possibilities out there for the human race. She understood that they had to make certain choices in his time, but it was her time now, and she would lead humanity to a glorious future the likes of which her grim father and mother couldn't envision.
***Although it had been over two decades since they'd retired and they were both nearly 100 years old, but were as famous as ever, renowned through both the Dominion and the Ascendancy. And they still had friends. Officers on Tamiko's command staff who had been junior under them and looked at them as saviors. Officers who were the children of comrades of theirs who had retired. And those who were simply in awe of their legends.
**Exactly 12 days after Tamiko declared herself Empress, Maddox Khan and Akari Lane came out of retirement and defected with a substantial portion of the Free Fleet to the Celestine Ascendancy, to offer them their assistance in defeating their daughter.
**77 A.E. to 81 A.E. - For four years, Maddox Khan and Akari Lane battled their daughter Tamiko Lane Khan.
**81 A.E. - Akari Lane is assassinated on Tamiko's order by introducing a fatal toxin into the mix of chemicals injected into Akari during a planetside rejuv treatment.
***Maddox, enraged and in disbelief at this foul betrayal by his own daughter, went on the offense, attacking so aggressively and recklessly that many wondered whether his mind had broken. Casualties ran high on both sides, but eventually Maddox triumphed, crushing his daughter's resistance. Tamiko was very very good, but she couldn't match the old commander's experience.
***Tamiko is captured, and brought to the Celestine Ascendancy for trial.
***There, the Celestines demand death for her, and harsh punishment for the entire Song Dominion. Maddox saw where this would lead - to a resentful and rebellious Song Dominion, who were understandably still enraged by the original attack on the refugee ship that had launched this war and did not believe they were responsible for this war. The Celestines, however, vehemently denied that it had been their ships that attacked the refugees.
***Maddox was able to convince, somehow, one of the Grensuhlian Elders to journey to the trial. There, it forced open Tamiko Lane Khan's mind, whereupon it was discovered that Tamiko had ordered the death of the refugees, not the Celestine Ascendancy.
***Perhaps predictably, this made little difference to the Song, who felt that whatever crime the Celestines didn't commit to begin the war, they had committed plenty since. Meanwhile, the Celestines, who knew they had been innocent of the attack on the Song refugees hungered for Song blood, feeling that the Song had waged war on them without provocation by them.
***Maddox declared three things:
****That he would not stand in the way of whatever justice the Celestines decided was appropriate for Tamiko.
****That he would permit neither the Celestine Ascendancy or the Song Dominion to resume the war against each other. He promised that whatever side launched an attack would see both he and the Free Fleet - the remnants of which rallied around him with Tamiko's defeat - come down on them hard, and as both sides were weakened and their people sick of war, it worked. A detente was formed, for awhile at least.
****That he had had enough of this 'government bullshit,' as he famously termed it, and that these governments were just as bad as the ones back on Earth that had stuck him mining frozen hydrogen on some god-forsaken moon in the middle of nowhere. He was leaving, and he was taking the Free Fleet with him, along with anyone else who wanted to come.
***Tamiko Lane Khan was executed via firing squad at dawn the next day.
***Maddox watched, and those who knew him well said they saw him turn into an old man as his daughter's lifeless body tumbled to the ground.
*82 A.E. to 91 A.E. Scatterhome is established.
**For nine years, the Free Fleet searched for somewhere suitable to live. Ideally, they wished to find a system with at least one broadly-habitable planet that was unoccupied, but none they found met their requirements, and eventually, with resources running low, they agreed to establish a permanent civilization in an asteroid field. These asteroids were found to be rich with raw materials, that they could trade for other supplies, and as a bonus many of the asteroids were nothing but huge chunks of water ice, which could be broken down into its component atoms for oxygen and fuel, or melted to supply the burgeoning civilization with water. Effectively, they had found a source of recoverable water larger than anything a planet could provide.
**There, Maddox declared, they would construct Scatterhome.
**During this period, the scattered refugees of the Song Dominion begin to recover from the chaos of war, they established a new civilian government, reassembled their military, and began construction of what would become Song City - a massive city floating about the irradiated surface of the planet Song using Decheeran technology.
*93 A.E. - Maddox Khan, arguably the most important human being in our race's history, dies. He and his wife Akari Lane had essentially saved the Human race. We will never forget them.
*98 A.E. - Yet another Human commander rises to power in the Free Fleet - a woman named Liao Harris.
**Resentful of this control and popularity the Human race seems to enjoy in the Fleet (despite their much smaller presence in terms of sheer numbers), a sizable population of its non-Human members mutiny, splitting off from the Fleet under the leadership of Harris's fiery second in command, a W'hoorn named Sere Umox.
**After a brief skirmish, the former Lieutenant Umox takes with him a substantial portion of the fleet's ships and mercenaries, reducing the population by half. Under Sere Umox, these mutineers become the Iron Corsairs. It takes the Free Fleet almost a century to rebuild their membership to its former size. During this time, the Iron Corsairs also gain strength, and the rivalry between the two factions continues to flourish.
*133 A.E. - Scatterhome is beset by a period of famine thanks to a mass failure of its hydroponics farms. The Krona approach the settlement with rations and freeze-dried meals for trade, sensing an opportunity to expand their already successful spacer-food market. Over the years, a natural partnership develops between the two races, as more and more of Scatterhome's food production falls under Krona management.
*191 A.E. - Scatterhome continues to flourish. Their lax trade regulations and increasingly profitable corporations attracting the attention of the Elgan race. Over the years, Elgan businesses begin to use Scatterhome as a tax-free shipping hub. An alliance between Krell and Scatterhome forms.
*210 A.E. - The Second War of the Ishvana begins.
**The Ishvana attacks again, starting the Second War of the Ishvana - this time with different goals. It has decided that the technology the Der'em used isn't possessed by anyone else, so it needs to seek a new route to this other reality and the Empyreal that it is certain lives there.
**It's looking to kidnap as many powerful kith users as possible, to learn about them and create its own kith-using super-servants by blending Bushraki cyborg tech with kith-sensitive minds, exercising total control over them.
**As before, it brings along the Vendal (who worship it) and the Bushraki (who do not, but who are quite bribe-able), along with a new servant-ally: the Sa'hak-ren, who are one of the oldest of the Younger Races, and who view the Ishvana with great respect initially. It starts by attacking the Celestine Ascendancy.
**The Bushraki, Vendal, and Sa'hak-ren along with the latter's client-races - the Inorni and the Xariel - hit the Celestine Ascendancy hard. Fearing the Ishvana's power and the addition of the mighty Sa'hak-ren, the Celestines and Scatterhome's Free Fleet join the resistance, along with an unexpected contingent of Corran, Ixodon, and Lha Ti from the Ibyssian Brotherhood, whose ancient culture still has stories of the revered Elessi from before the Ishvana wiped its creators out. The Song Dominion does not ally with the Celestines, but does fight on a different front against the Ishvana, for they know they will be next.
**The allies nevertheless are pushed back, and planet after planet is taken by the Ishvana in the course of merely 18 months.
*212 A.E. Enter the Jin.
*The allied forces are near defeat against those of the Ishvana when a new presence makes itself known - the Jin. They come in from outside Starmourn after fleeing their mad Godking's alliance with the Ishvana, and strike at the Ishvana's forces with their fleet led by the giant Blood Ark.
**This massive infusion of force tips the battle in favor of the alliance.
**Seeing the writing on the wall and tired of being used, the Bushraki secretly negotiate with the Celestines and the Song, and then betray the Ishvana, siding with the Celestines and Song to repel the Ishvana's forces.
**In retaliation for their betrayal, the Ishvana asks the Sa'hak-ren to devastate the Bushraki homeworld, which they are happy to do. The only surviving Bushraki are the deployed military forces.
**The combined alliance now drives the Vendal and Sa'hak-ren back, though the Ishvana doesn't actually care, as its forces have already managed to capture thousands of kith users.
**Over the next several hundred years, the Ishvana would experiment on these kith users and, in combination with Bushraki cyborg technology, develop the Vihana.
*213 A.E. - The Bushraki that survived ended up living in Scatterhome, in a section devoted to them, and their knowledge of wetwiring and mindsims spread throughout Starmourn Sector.
*213 A.E. - The Jin park their Blood Ark near Scatterhome and join with it, preferring not to subject themselves to the rather stricter laws of the Song Dominion and the Celestine Ascendancy.
*271 A.E. - The Binarchs and Trinarchs rebel against the Ishvana. We know that during its experiments to create the Vihana, the Ishvana also played with combining advanced AIs with splinters of its own consciousness, in order to create beings that could operate as powerful, truly independent servants. It succeeded, but the resulting Artificial Consciousnesses, as they are known, were not ideal for the Ishvana's purpose. It desired creative, independent, but ultimately completely obedient servants, and those are not completely compatible traits in any being. Unlike Artificial Intelligences, which are easily controlled, or the Vihana, which the Ishvana eventually developed, which it also has strong control over.
**The Ishvana moved to destroy these failed experiments, and the Artificial Consciousnesses were no match for it. With five exceptions, they were destroyed. Those five, however, managed to flee on stolen starships and escaped, leaving the Ishvana's sphere of control.
*294 A.E. - As these five Artificial Consciousnesses fled they found a world - Lyad V, in the Lyad system - rich in natural resources. They commenced mining them and producing highly-advanced AIs to serve them, planning to eventually conquer other systems for resources and expand their power. Like the Ishvana from who's mind they sprung, the Artificial Consciousnesses are single-minded and power-mad.
*318 A.E. - The Iron Corsairs and the Free Fleet skirmish near the Carnine Nebula during a rapidly-escalating disagreement over territory. The Free Fleet wins the day, and a tentative cease-fire is agreed upon.

*369 A.E. - The five surviving Artificial Consciousnesses created by the Ishvana split into two groups: one of two, and one of three. The former are called the Binarchs, with their servant Binaries, and the latter are called the Trinarchs, with their servant Trinaries.
**This split developed over a desire by the three known as the Trinarchs to obtain certain kith artifacts believed to be held by the Ibyssian Brotherhood. The Trinarchs determined they would attack the Brotherhood and take what they wanted, while the Binarchs declined to participate, for fear of arousing the anger of the powerful Brotherhood.
**The Trinarchs execute a lightning surprise strike on Ylneri, the homeworld of the Ixodon and their great spaceyards, hoping to cripple the Brotherhood's formidable navy. They were partly-successful, and wreaked enormous damage on the fleets.
**While preparing to move on Otra IV, the homeworld of the Corran, where they believe some of the kith artifacts are held.
**They're successful at weakening the planet's defenses and raided the planet, seizing two of the artifacts before the elders among the Lha Ti arrived, and began crushing the Trinarch ships one by one with their incredibly-powerful void kith. Though quite powerful in kith themselves, the Trinarchs are not a match for the Lha Ti in sheer kith, and they retreat back to the Lyad system.
*370 A.E. - The Ibyssian Brotherhood hits the Lyad system in retribution, very very hard. The Binarchs and Trinarchs along with their AI servants - the Binaries and Trinaries - are forced to flee.
**The Binarchs, who hadn't wanted to attack the Brotherhood to begin with, are furious at being included in the collective punishment the Trinarchs brought upon them. They demand the stolen kith artifacts in recompense.
**The Trinarchs refuse this demand, and as the two groups are fleeing the Brotherhood, they erupt into battle with each other. The Binarchs manage to take one of the artifacts, and they break off from the Trinarchs, going their separate ways.
*422 A.E. - The Free Fleet is hired by Temejin Corp, a Shen megacorp, to blockade a remote planet under Selassian control. Once the Fleet is on duty and far from a Void Gate, the Iron Corsairs emerge from a nearby asteroid belt, completely wiping out the Free Fleet in a devastating ambush. Though there would be mercenary groups who used the name, this was the end of the storied Free Fleet.

*574 A.E. - The Third Cleax Invasion, which has never been fully repelled, was contained at Starforge by the Rek, the full might of the Serene Empire of the Ait Benir, the Ibyssian Brotherhood, the Zinari Imperium, and even the Iron Corsairs.

*623 A.E. - The first Vihana encountered.

*689 A.E. to 727 A.E. - The 40 Year Empire War.
**The Song Dominion and the Celestine Ascendancy, long at odds with each other, erupt into full-blown war over a resource dispute, with both sides accusing the other of provocation. The war lasts nearly 40 years and nearly wrecks both their economies. It is during this war in which Scatterhome becomes a power to equal the Song and the Celestines.

*796 A.E. - The Elgan Underground is formed to combat the Nabia and their pernicious drug-pushing ways.

*921 A.E. - Present Day
The Elessi were quadrupedal but able to walk bipedally.

The Elessi were obsessed with reaching a higher plan of existence, known as "Willspace", as they had seen some other Elder Races of the Wild Kith Empires attain.
