The Guardian Council is the democratically elected governing body of the post-revolution [[Celestine Ascendancy]], who retain sole executive power in the absence caused by the divorcement of all corporations from the government of the faction.

The Council has three leadership positions, and is led by a Guardian Prime, a Guardian empowered by their peers to speak on behalf of the Ascendancy when necessary.
As the Guardians are considered to be a group of equals coordinating the faction's resources for the common good, the support of each Office in the affairs of the others is not uncommon.

The Guardians act as a united voice, voting on issues internally to reach a consensus. The title of Guardian Prime is an additional investiture of the people's trust, granting them the final decision-making power in matters where the Guardians are not able to reach an agreement.

Currently, these roles and their responsibilities are as follows: 

*Guardian Imperator - Holgorath V'lani (Guardian Prime)
The Guardian Imperator is responsible for overseeing the ODS, the Office of Defense and Strategy, and with it, all manner of space fleet operations, ground forces operations, cosmpiercers conflict, cache consignments, etc. 

*Guardian Envoy - Lupisentia V'lani
The Guardian Envoy is responsible for overseeing the OCA, the Office of Cultural Affairs, and with it, all manner of cultural pursuits such as contests, events, mentorship programmes, etc. 

*Guardian Exarch - Dyne V'lani
The Guardian Exarch is responsible for overseeing the OBV, the Office of Business Ventures, and with it, all manner of financial and commercial affairs, including stellar economies, credit sales, etc.

==Summary==
Fifty billion people live on the densely urban planet of [[Glisal II]], the capital of the '''Celestine Ascendancy'''. Massive cities sprawl across most of the planet's continents and pollution clouds the atmosphere. Towering skyscrapers, the homes of the social and political elite, soar high above smog-choked urban valleys. Crime, as well as both power and economic inequality run rampant, with the top 0.1% of the population having more of both than the rest of the planet combined.

The planet itself is of Earth-standard gravity and maintains the [[Glisal Orbital Synergy Halo]] satellite superstructure in orbit, which visibly takes up half the sky, even during the day. Two platinum-rich moons also orbit the planet, which are a major source of wealth for the Ascendancy.

Racially, the dominant races on [[Glisal II]] are the [[W'hoorn]], the [[Nath-el]], the [[Shen]], and the [[Tukkav]], with, as on most cosmopolitan worlds, smatterings of most of the other races of Starmourn Sector.

==Background==

The Celestine Ascendancy was formed in 35 A.E. as a reaction to the combined power of the [[Song Dominion]] in the aftermath of the [[Bushraki War]]. [[Glisal II]] was chosen as the capital because the [[Shen]], the [[Nath-el]], the [[Tukkav]], and the [[W'hoorn]] - the founding races of the Celestines - all had large populations already living there in peace together. They sought to form an alliance that could resist potential aggression by the Song, for there have been various degrees of long-standing tension or outright hostility between some of the races of the Dominion and the Ascendancy. For instance, the W'hoorn/Ry'nari rivalry has been legendarily vicious throughout the millennia.

The struggles between the Song and the Celestines over the last 900 years have resulted in multiple skirmishes and wars, including the terrible [[Empire Wars]].

Around 100 years ago a major revolution occurred, detailed in the history of [[Martias and the Angel]]. This saw the extremely top-heavy and ultra-powerful societal structure led by the [[keiretsu]] toppled by a revolutionary group led by [[The Angel]]. This saw the introduction of a government led by a committee called the Guardians.
